Pokhara – Continuous rainfall since Thursday night has triggered devastating landslides in Kaski, Nepal, leading to the tragic death of 11 people, including 7 members of the same family.
In Pokhara Metropolitan City-19, Tallokot, a landslide buried a single family’s home, resulting in the deaths of 47-year-old Kul Bahadur Pariyar, his wife 43-year-old Man Kumari, his 85-year-old mother Laxmi, daughters 15-year-old Prashna and 20-year-old Prabha, son-in-law 25-year-old Asmit Pariyar, and relative Radhika Pariyar, according to Kaski police spokesperson DSP Basanta Kumar Sharma. Prabha and her husband Asmit were visiting from Chitwan. Neighbor Radhika Pariyar was killed while assisting in rescue efforts.
In Pokhara-32, Chainpur, a separate landslide claimed the lives of 18-year-old Anita Ojha, 11-year-old Anushka Ojha, and 9-year-old Pratik Subedi, as reported by the police.
Additionally, in Madi Rural Municipality, Ward No. 11, Lower Saple, 80-year-old Maitikumar Gurung was killed by a landslide. Her 55-year-old son Om Bahadur Gurung was rescued safely, according to police reports.
The bodies of all victims have been taken to the Pokhara Health Science Foundation for postmortem.
